“ Restoran Cengkih is an institution if you are looking for Johorean Malay food in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. They have a huge spread of kuih and lauk that can satisfy a whole family cravings for really good Johorean food. The restaurant can be quite packed and it is common to see people lingering to get a table. The servers are quite helpful to get you a seating but a little patience can is all one need. The rice with the various lauk is a winning combination, but the johor laksa is a popular choice. The soto is average for my taste, but the kuih is pretty good. Take note that the prices can raise an eyebrow, but the food is quite good and this is Taman Tun afterall. ”
“ Johorean dishes served at this restaurant. Parking was rather limited around the area. Had to park rather far. A rather good selection of dishes available. Friendly staff. We enjoyed the rendang beef dish, pucuk masak lemak, pajeri nenas & terung berlado + ayam goreng. A wide spread of desserts too available at the front of the shop; we had their kuih kosui, abuk-abuk sagu and lepat ubi. Since it was our first time having some of their desserts; it was a mixture of interesting flavours. Price is on the higher side so make sure you practise self restraint before scooping those dishes onto your plate. Our bill came up to RM80 incl drinks, takeaways of nasi lemak bungkus, bubur pulut hitam and daging rendang. ”
“ We love Malay cuisines and this is by far the most unique Malay style cuisine we tasted and absolutely loved it. We been to this place three time over four years and still very impress with this place. They offer a ‘buffet’ style menu where you pick our dishes and a wait staff will then calculate the cost. This is largely a family run business and they are very helpful if you have question regarding the dishes. Also not to be forgotten are their desserts which is situated in another cart. Desserts here are your typical Malay dessert but one or two of the offerings are unique to this shop. ”
